Pottery Book Club

Pottery Book Club

If you love pottery, you may be pleased to know that I’ll be sharing my personal pottery library — a collection of books I’ve gathered over more than 50 years. Many of these books are rare, out of print, or simply too expensive to buy, so this is a wonderful chance to explore them together.

The idea for the book club came about when students often enjoyed looking through my books but found them difficult to obtain, or discovered that I was reluctant to let them leave the studio! This felt like the perfect way to share them while also creating time to talk, learn, and exchange ideas.

The club will meet once a month for a relaxed two-hour session. We’ll begin by browsing a selection of books over coffee and cake, then choose one or two potters, techniques, or themes to discuss.

There will be plenty of time to ask questions about clay, techniques, and the creative process, and occasionally we may arrange special sessions to try out some of the ideas and methods we’ve explored.

I hope to inform, inspire, and guide you through the rich and exciting world of pottery, drawing on the knowledge and inspiration found in these books.

Wow, we had a blast!

Surrounded by pottery books, with food and drinks to enjoy, we spent time sharing questions and ideas. We explored a wide range of topics – from casting porcelain to hand-building with grogged clay.

The possibilities feel endless, and the library of knowledge is immense.
Look out for upcoming Book Club events!
