Full Day Course with Cooked Lunch
Full day to learn, improve, and practise pottery throwing? This course offers the perfect balance of teaching, hands-on learning, and creative development – with lunch included.
What to Expect
This workshop is ideal for complete beginners, enthusiastic amateurs, and developing throwers. You will learn new skills, refine essential techniques, and gain confidence working on the wheel. Throwing is a unique and satisfying experience, and we’re here to guide you step-by-step. Like learning to ride a bike, we’ll help you lose the stabilisers quickly – and teach you when you’re ready.
Course Content
Throughout the day we will cover:
Clay preparation: wedging and handling
Centering clay on the wheel
Throwing cylinders (which may become mugs)
Altering forms to create jugs and vases
Turning, finishing, handle pulling and attaching
Decorative techniques (if appropriate to the group)
You’ll also have the chance to work on a variety of electric wheels to discover your personal preference.
