Introduction to Flower Casting

Discover the beauty of nature captured in art with our Flower Casting workshop – also known as botanical bas-relief.
In this relaxing, creative session, you’ll learn how to press flowers and foliage into clay to capture their delicate details, before casting your design in plaster to create a lasting, textured artwork.

The finished piece can be left natural or painted to enhance the patterns and forms — turning the fleeting beauty of plants into a beautiful, permanent relief tile ready for framing.

What You’ll Do

Under friendly, expert guidance, you will:

      • Collect a selection of plants, leaves, or natural forms from our garden (or bring your own – see below)

      • Prepare and work with clay to create your tile

      • Press your chosen flowers and plants into the clay surface

      • Watch a demonstration on painting and finishing techniques

      • Cast your tile impressions using plaster of Paris

By the end of the session, you’ll have created your own unique botanical artwork to take home and display.

What’s Included

      • All materials and the use of tools

      • Refreshments throughout the session
